Daniel Negreanu Challenges Phil Hellmuth to Heads-up Match

Although it has not been officially confirmed, it looks like Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth will play soon another historic challenge.

After the seven-figure loss to Doug Polk in their heads-up duel for 25,000 hands at $200/$400 NL, Daniel Negreanu is ready to play another challange against Phil Hellmuth, following Hellmuth’s comments on Negreanu – Polk challange. For reference, Phil Hellmuth shares his thoughts on the Doug Polk vs Daniel Negreanu heads-up match that concludes recently and he doesn’t mince words about the play of Daniel Negreanu. He said:

“I was disappointed in the way that Daniel played, but I know his coaches, his coaches are brilliant, so he has brilliant coaches and so everything I have talked with his coaches, I love the way they thought about no limit. I think that their HU theories about you know 3-betting every time you have jack three of clubs and jack five of clubs and a lot of these hands, you know that’s like a lot of money to get in some weird spots, so I was betting on Daniel’s talent, Doug was playing pure GTO or next level GTO, then to me, Doug has a lot of fire, I thought Daniel should have fought fire with Daniel.”

As a reply, Negreanu said on Twitter: “I’ll play you a heads up match live, online, at any stakes you feel comfortable with for as many hands as you would like. Wanna play big guy?”

Without rejecting the challenge, Phil said that he is not afraid of anybody. So, stay tuned for any developments.
